The 33-year-old man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after nearly 1,300 marijuana plants were found in his pick-up truck.
Vernon police say the vehicle was stopped on Highway 6 near Kalamalka Lake Road Thursday evening because officers believed it was overloaded.
"After speaking with the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a radio jamming device was located," says Cpl. Gerry Kovacs.
"A search of the vehicle located 13 boxes of marijuana plants containing 1,259 plants, potting soil, compost and grow chemicals."
"l was taking a walk down Highway 6 near Kalamalka Lake Road when I noticed a truck that seemed to be packed really full pulled over on the side of the road and being searched by police officers. I decided I was going kill some time by watching. As I was watching I noticed a bunch of green coming from some boxes the officer was taking from the truck. I crossed the street to get a better look and it was green! the truck driver had his truck filled with a boxes of marijuana plants and growing supplies. "
